I'm a 27 year-old living in Connecticut who has a full time job in medical device manufacturing and a part time job in fitness. By day, I work as a project engineer for a medical device manufacturer and travel often for work. I currently teach barre classes every week. I received my Bachelor of Science in 2016 from Carnegie Mellon University, double majoring in Materials Science & Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. In 2019, I received my barre instructor certificate from Barre Above as well as my Group Fitness Instructor certification from ACE (American Council on Exercise). In addition, I am a certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute.
My fitness journey started as a child with competitive gymnastics and dance, which I participated in until adulthood. I also played soccer and ran indoor and outdoor track. I was introduced to weightlifting and the gym in college, and after graduating was introduced to group fitness, CrossFit, and mixed martial arts. In January 2019, I competed in my first Brazilian jiu jitsu tournament. Losing 18 pounds to make weight and compete in this tournament helped spark my passion for nutrition and proper diet. I love using food to fuel my body, but I also believe in the importance of indulging every once in a while!
Teaching group fitness is a way for me to help others reach their goals and express my creativity through choreographing my class and developing my playlists. I hope this blog is useful to anyone else who is currently a group fitness instructor or is interested in becoming one. I also hope to connect with other fitness professionals and those who are just passionate about exercise and nutrition!
Other topics of interest to me are financial well-being and career-related topics, as well as beauty and travel. I became 100% debt free in November 2019, paying off over $50,000 in debt! While my day job keeps me pretty busy, I find that my passions outside of work such as fitness and beauty are life-giving activities that provide me happiness. I hope that, through this blog, I'm able to connect with people around the world with similar interests!
